Why do people have to be such jerks on the ferry? All we wanted to do was sit with our group to celebrate a birthday. We had a representative from our party saving some seats so we could all sit together....then this JERK comes over throws my friends jacket off the chair and says-"I'm sitting here, there is no saving seats!" Yes, this guy is a regular rider. He is fat old misserable man. You might know him, and have had a similar experience. Or, maybe you are him.
When this man got on the ferry, there were PLENTY of great seats available. Why do people have to be such jerks???? Are you a jerk? If so, make the world a better place and change your attitude!

Amen to that! I've seen people pick up other people's things and move them to other seats, saying, "well, I want to sit here." What's that about?
I try not to get wound up about such things but a few weeks ago I tried to sit down with a boat friend of mine, Harold, when a woman informed me that all of the four currently unoccupied seats were "saved". I pointed out that there were no reserved seats and pointed at the sign posted supportively above our heads, then decided it really wasn't worth the fuss and sat outside.
What annoyed me was that I heard later from Harold that none of the woman's "friends" ever showed up and that the seats ended up going to other people anyway.
Unless that woman wants to buy four more day passes, I should be able to sit where I want. Also, in order to avoid hypocrisy, I refrain from saving seats, even though it sometimes causes me grief with friends. The only instance where I will is if I've seen somebody in line who I know *will* be on the boat.
I've had, on a crowded boat, some reluctantly give up one of the 3 seats he was hording for his stuff. I asked politely, "Is this seat taken" and he just stared at me waiting for me to leave and find another seat.
Eventually he caved and I sat down - only to be able to annoy him by chatting with fellow ferry riders sitting directly across.
Cliques? You mean we have cliques on the boat?
